CANYON RIVER RANCH
Canyon River Ranch is an oasis in the Texas Hill Country. Uniquely situated west of Fredericksburg, TX, it boasts some of the most picturesque terrains in the hill country.
OVERVIEW
WATER
Little Devil’s River is truly the crowning jewel of this property with roughly 1.25 miles of the river running directly through the heart of the ranch. Deep pools of emerald and azure bounded by dramatic cliffs and rugged fields are a matchless natural beauty. Its central location in the ranch ensures that no location is too far from this treasure. The river’s year-round flow of unspoiled water is a rarity in the Hill Country and even rarer on the real estate market.
ELEVATION & TERRAIN
All of the Little Devil’s River Ranch property is above 2000 feet above sea level, slightly higher than the Texas state average of 1700 feet. This elevation allows for unparalleled views of the surrounding Hill Country. The terrain slopes inward from the northern and southern borders, cradling the rolling interior lands and providing natural privacy. While varied, the ranch’s hills and cliffs allow for several open expanses and infinite potential homesites.
LANDSCAPE
This ranch is the ideal home for both riparian and upland Hill Country flora and fauna. The powerful presence of a year-round river allows the coexistence of these unique ecosystems. Live Oak, Spanish Oak, Shinnery Oak, and Cedar Elm grow strong among flourishing indigenous plant life. Texan wildlife such as white-tailed deer, Rio Grande Turkeys, and mourning doves thrive in this abundant environment.
OLD NOXVILLE SCHOOLHOUSE
Texans have valued this location and its natural bounty for well over a century. Because of this, Canyon River Ranch is home to well-preserved pieces of this state’s incredible history. The Old Noxville Schoolhouse sits on the property with its own Texas Historical Marker reading: “Erected about 1880. Used as a school until the district was consolidated with Harper, 1940. Native limestone was quarried nearby, laid by local people including Noah Nox (who founded Noxville), Will Lennon, Lafayette McDonald, J.H. Parker and sons. Nearby (about 300 yds. W) were a post office and store, run by Nox and wife. Building now serves as a polling place for Precinct 4. Noxville cemetery is located across the creek (600 yds. NE). (1968).”
LOCATION
The ranch is an ideal location just 30 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg and an hour and a half from the city of San Antonio. This location combines country privacy with relative nearness to bustling sites of Texan culture and tourism. Few properties provide a location versatile enough to be a private home, hunting lodge, and ranch.
